Frequently Asked Questions

What do psychiatric nurse practitioners do?

Psychiatric Nurse Practitioners are licensed medical providers who are trained in mental health specialty. The speciality training and licensing allow them to treat mental health symptoms by prescribing and managing medication.

Is my online psychiatry visit private and secure?

Yes. Safeguarding our patients' information is one of our highest priorities. The technology we use is private, secure, and HIPAA-compliant and all messaging data is encrypted.

Can a psychiatric nurse practitioner prescribe my medication after a virtual visit?

Yes, your provider can prescribe your medication just as medications would be prescribed from an in-person visit. It’s important to remember that there are no major differences between in-person psychiatry and tele-psychiatry.

How do I get my medication?

We send your medication to your preferred or local pharmacy. If you receive mail order delivery through your insurance, you will also be able to receive your medication through delivery as well.

How are my lab tests ordered?

If any lab tests are needed, your provider will discuss it with you before they are ordered. We send your lab test orders to either Quest or LabCorp, whichever one you prefer. The order will be sent electronically, so you don’t need to bring a lab slip to the lab. You should bring your photo ID for your lab test as the laboratory may ask you to provide a photo ID.
